Description

Welcome to a classic center hall Colonial set on nearly three tranquil acres in sought-after Chester Township. Set far back from the road, this home enjoys a serene setting surrounded by mature trees.

A gracious foyer presents a formal front-to-back living room enhanced by a fireplace with brick surround and wood mantle. Transitioning from the living room is a formal dining room designed with crown moldings and warmly-toned wood floors. A stylish kitchen offers white cabinetry, granite counters, crown moldings, modern gray tile floors, a breakfast bar, pantry, and a convenient desk area. Uniting the kitchen and dining room is an expansive family room flooded with natural light from a wall of windows; it accesses the deck from sliding glass doors. Continuing the circular flow of the main floor is an inviting den that could be converted to a home office. An updated powder room has a tile floor, beadboard wainscoting, and a pedestal sink.

Wood floors are found throughout the second floor. The master bedroom contains three closets and a private master bath. Generously proportioned, this updated bath has an oversized wood vanity with two sinks and a tiled stall shower enclosed by glass doors. Three more bedrooms share an updated full bath. Another convenience on this level is the laundry room.

Outside, a roomy deck is the perfect venue for al fresco dining and entertaining. A two-car attached garage and an unfinished basement provide storage solutions or future living space.

This impressive Colonial is near charming downtown Chester Borough for an abundance of shopping and dining options. The township is known for its well-respected public school system, parks and trails for outdoor enjoyment, an active recreation department and the Historic Preservation Society which hosts a variety of community events from craft fairs to concerts in the park. Chester is also close to major commuting routes and NJ Transit Midtown Direct train service to Manhattan available in Morristown or Peapack-Gladstone.

About Chester Township

When talking about Chester in southwestern Morris County, you need to distinguish between the Borough of Chester, which is the shopping village, and Chester Township, the surrounding area which is decidedly more rural. At about 1½-square miles, the borough is located at the intersection of Routes 206 and 24 and offers quaint streetscapes lined with one-of-a-kind boutiques, antique shops and restaurants. Chester Township includes 29.8 square miles of farmland, newer residential developments and historic homes.

Incorporated in 1799, over 40%--or 12 square miles--of the township is preserved as open space. There are nature reserves, parks and deed-restricted agricultural property under the state Farmland Preservation Program, which buys the development rights while allowing the farmer to retain title and continue working the land.

The Borough of Chester was incorporated in 1930, and is a separate municipality that shares many services with the township such as a library, first aid squad, fire department, community pool, athletic programs, civic organizations and schools.
