4 beds | 3.1 baths | 2 Acres | MLS/ID#: 3540631

This charming spacious center hall Colonial is located on a pastoral country road in Chester Township where it is surrounded by neighboring horse farms and preserved farmland. Sited on two open acres, the meticulously maintained nine-room residence features four bedrooms, three full baths and a powder room. Approximately 3,545 square feet of living space creates an effortlessly flowing floor plan spanning two fully finished levels plus a large, unfinished lower level. Additionally, there is an oversized attached two-car garage and backyard storage shed.

Thoughtful updates have been made over the years, resulting in a warm and welcoming residence. A new roof was also installed in 2017. Accessed via a paver walkway, the custom leaded glass front door leads into a spacious foyer. Notable details include two coat closets, handsome crown and baseboard moldings and an oil-rubbed bronze lighting fixture.

The step-down classic living room at the front of the home has a wood-burning fireplace featuring a brick surround, elegant wood mantle with crown molding and beautiful woodland views. A spacious family room adjoins the living room. Highlights of this expansive room include hardwood floors, vaulted ceiling, skylights and a soaring gas fireplace which provides warmth and ambiance. There is also a perfect entertaining area with built-in bar fitted with tile countertops, counter seating for four, cherry wood cabinetry, prep sink and GE refrigerator. The formal dining room is appointed with elegant crown, baseboard and chair rail moldings; a handsome fabric drum shade chandelier hangs overhead.

The generously-sized chef’s kitchen with pantry flows seamlessly from the dining room. Highlights include cherry cabinetry, granite countertops, a stainless steel Blanco sink and a crackled subway tile backsplash with decorative tile border. A center island with granite countertops  and storage cabinetry provides seating for two. The collection of appliances includes a GE refrigerator, electric cooktop, double wall ovens, microwave and Kenmore dishwasher. A separate breakfast area is illuminated by a classic wrought iron five-light candelabra chandelier. Double glass doors in the kitchen lead to an expansive wood deck for outdoor entertaining.

Down the hall from the kitchen is a first floor office/bedroom and full bathroom- convenient for welcoming weekend guests. A laundry/mudroom area and a powder room complete the first floor. The main staircase in the entrance foyer leads to the second floor.

Each of the four bedrooms is situated on the second level as well as two full baths. The master suite is comprised of the bedroom, dressing alcove, fitted walk-in closet, double closet and en suite master bath. Recently remodeled, this spa-like space is appointed with a double custom wood vanity topped in a polished Carrera marble countertop and tile backsplash with glass mosaic border inlay. The luxuriously oversized shower has a seamless glass shower door, full subway tile surround with mosaic tile border, mosaic tile shower floor and Moen stainless steel shower head and handheld sprayer. There is also a built-in honed Carrera marble shower bench. Three additional bedrooms offer stunning views of the yard and have abundant storage. A spacious full bath completes the second floor.

Outdoor amenities include an expansive front lawn, oversized wood deck and level backyard. This private setting offers bucolic views from every room, yet, downtown Chester is only minutes away with an array of local boutiques, restaurants and national stores. A convenient location that is under five miles to the NJ Transit Station in Gladstone also adds to the appeal of this picture perfect country home.

Chester Township, NJ real estate market

About Chester Township

When talking about Chester in southwestern Morris County, you need to distinguish between the Borough of Chester, which is the shopping village, and Chester Township, the surrounding area which is decidedly more rural. At about 1½-square miles, the borough is located at the intersection of Routes 206 and 24 and offers quaint streetscapes lined with one-of-a-kind boutiques, antique shops and restaurants. Chester Township includes 29.8 square miles of farmland, newer residential developments and historic homes.

Incorporated in 1799, over 40%--or 12 square miles--of the township is preserved as open space. There are nature reserves, parks and deed-restricted agricultural property under the state Farmland Preservation Program, which buys the development rights while allowing the farmer to retain title and continue working the land.

The Borough of Chester was incorporated in 1930, and is a separate municipality that shares many services with the township such as a library, first aid squad, fire department, community pool, athletic programs, civic organizations and schools.
